Each year brings new and unique University-wide opportunities and challenges. Investing in Drexel’s priorities allows the university to be nimble and pivot in challenging times to provide students with critical resources when they need it most. Support University Priorities (Unrestricted)
The Drexel University Endowment is an investment in the University that grows over time to help increase financial aid, improve facilities, and elevate research and other essential priorities. Commencement is a Drexel tradition and so is the regalia that each graduate wears. However, for some students the $90 cost of the cap and gown is out of reach. That’s where the Drexel community can help. Each gift of $90 to the Graduation Regalia Assistance Fund covers the cost for one Dragon and makes it possible for them to be a part of the ceremony wearing their cap and gown. The Student Emergency Fund provides one-time resources to address immediate student financial needs. During the pandemic, it has helped students to return home during campus closures, gain access to the resources to complete virtual classes, and help Drexel students who are experiencing an unexpected and emergent situation that could jeopardize their education. The Center for Firefighter Injury Research & Safety Trends (FIRST) is a research, education, and practice enterprise of data scientists, epidemiologists, organizational scientists, and psychologists. Your invesetment in FIRST supports the fire and rescue service through objective data collection and analysis on safety culture, stress, mental health, and injury. The Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS) supports students through academic coaching, tutoring, workshops and resources. Your gift to CLASS empowers students to develop skills and strategies that foster academic success and personal growth through purposeful interactions with peer and professional staff. The Drexel Autism Support Program supports current Drexel students with the goal of promoting academic and social competency, self-advocacy, interpersonal skills, independent living, and social integration. You gift helps participants take advantage of University life, develop the academic and social skills needed to pursue career opportunities, and lead a full and enriched life. The Center for Black Culture (CBC) serves as a hub of information, activity and community for Black students, faculty, staff, and alumni to increase knowledge, recognition and respect of the people, histories and cultures of the African diaspora and its many contributions to the world. All programs and services offered through the CBC are open to members of the Drexel community who want to gain a greater understanding of the Black experience and support a welcoming and wholly inclusive campus environment. The Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion (SCDI) supports and empowers students of all backgrounds as they build a sense of community that reflects the diversity of the University’s student body. The SCDI actively advocates for student diversity, intersectional social justice and education on campus; gifts to the Center help ensure that students feel their whole identity is included and respected during their time at Drexel. Many Drexel students face financial hardships while enrolled at the University which impact their ability to have consistent access to meals. Mario’s Market, the new student food pantry, provides nonperishable food to any Drexel student in need. A gift of $35 makes it possible for Mario’s Market to provide staple food items for a student for one week. Support Student Food Pantry (Mario’s Market)
Students facing food insecurity can access Drexel University dining facilities without a meal plan through the Student Meal Swipe Donation Program. A gift of $50 makes it possible for 5 students to enjoy meals on campus. Support Student Meal Swipe Donation Program
A long-standing Drexel tradition, each winter The Alumni Turkey Project makes holiday meals possible for members of the Drexel community experiencing food insecurity. A gift of $35 makes a turkey dinner (with sides) possible for a family or gorup of individuals. Support The Alumni Turkey Project
The Drexel Liberty Scholars program strives to cultivate the thought leaders and social justice advocates of tomorrow by providing high-achieving high school graduates from across the nation with a renewable scholarship award that covers 100% of their Drexel tuition and fees. To position students for success, each Liberty Scholar has the added benefit of a dedicated faculty/staff mentor, a Living Learning Community, academic resources and event programming. The Counseling Center provides access to mental health services and counseling at no cost to full-time Drexel students. A gift of $200 helps to offset the cost of ongoing crisis hotline support for students during the pandemic and strengthens the University’s commitment to mental health and wellness. Reach Out and Read helps develop critical early reading skills in children. The families who participate read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten better prepared to succeed, with larger vocabularies, stronger language skills, and a six-month developmental edge over their peers. Your gift to Reach out and Read helps to provide books for the 21,000 children served by the Center for the Urban Child at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Study Abroad scholarships make it possible for Drexel students to participate in global engagement activities regardless of their personal financial situation. Gifts to Study Abroad will help to cover costs for students studying overseas, helping Drexel students gain a different perspective of their field, a deeper understanding of a different culture, and an expanded view of the world. Every Drexel student can find co-op placements that match their passions and goals; however, many students pursue opportunities that are not appropriately salaried, at nonprofits, in other countries, or in high cost-of-living cities. The Co-op Opportunity Fund creates opportunities where industry funding doesn’t exist, and provides stipends for unpaid and underpaid cooperative learning. By investing in The Co-op Opportunity Fund, you unlock career-defining experiences for students of all backgrounds in every industry across the globe.
